Macri Calls PRO Meeting Amid Rising Tensions with Milei

Former President of the Nation and head of the PRO party, Mauricio Macri, has called a meeting with party members for the year-end farewell of the National Council. The objective is to analyze the events that have taken place throughout the year.

The meeting will take place this Wednesday, December 12th, at 10 AM at the headquarters on Balcarce Street in the San Telmo neighborhood. One of the fundamental points on the agenda will be the results of the latest legislative elections and the support garnered by La Libertad Avanza (LLA).

This meeting comes amid a new episode of tension between LLA and the PRO, which resurfaced during the last encounter between Macri and President Javier Milei. They "failed to reach an agreement" on certain points, as confirmed by the former head of state, who also described the acceptance of the resignation of former Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos as "negative" and the appointment of "inexperienced" Manuel Adorni to replace him as a mistake.

These differences, which are resurfacing today, began to become visible during the Buenos Aires legislative elections on May 18th. One of the most important figures in the macrista space, Silvia Lospennato, confronted Milei over the failure of the 'Clean Slate' project. She stated that the President "betrayed her after reading the infamous press release, in which they washed their hands of the matter" and accused her of being responsible for the initiative not garnering the necessary votes to be enacted, even though she was not even a senator at the time.

That situation shook the possible unity between the two spaces. However, a single list was officially formed for the September elections in the province of Buenos Aires and was even extended to the national legislative elections.

Despite many PRO members being content with the alliance, certain personalities, such as María Eugenia Vidal, disagree with the scenario facing the party led by Macri, especially considering that one of the figures who has regained significant strength within LLA is the new Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli (PRO).

For now, the names of the possible attendees at Macri's proposed meeting for this Wednesday have not been disclosed, although there is a probability that the head of the Deputies' bloc, Cristian Ritondo, and the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, will be present.
